Sudden death confirms final field for Sunningdale

Play off update

Dana Lacey holes for a birdie two on the first play off hole to qualify as 1st Alternate.

Michele Thomson plays a superb iron shot to 4 feet on the third play off hole to score a birdie three and qualify as 2nd Alternate.

Silvia Cavalleri holes a 20 foot birdie putt on the fifth play off hole to secure her place as 3rd Alternate and Nathalie Booth qualifies as 4th Alternate.

6.00pm 

Players on par (72) and better have qualified for the 2008 Ricoh Women’s British Open and can now make their way to Sunningdale to register for the Championship.

There is now a sudden death play off over holes 1, 2, 17 and 18 taking place for the remaining 4 alternate places. 

4pm

Welsh and Irish professionals Lydia Hall and Martina Gillen still lead at the Berkshire after posting fine 4 under par 68’s. English Amateur and 2006 Curtis Cup player Naomi Edwards as well as Anja Monke and Sam Head also look good after posting 3 under par 69’s.

There are three further players on 70 including Krystle Caithness and
Liz Bennett and one other player lie a further shot back after 71’s.

Players including former European number one Iben Tinning and three others may be in for a nervous wait after posting level par 72’s.

19 players and 4 alternates will be decided at today’s final qualifying event.

Former European number one Iben Tinning and Cork’s Claire Coughlan-Ryan may be in for a nervous wait with level par 72’s.

19 players and 4 alternates will be decided at today’s final qualifying event. 

Sunday

A top class field including former European number one and Solheim Cup player, Iben Tinning as well as many of this year's GB & I Curtis Cup team is assembling at the Berkshire Golf Club ahead of Monday's Final-Qualifying stage of the Ricoh Women's British Open.

The Berkshire Golf Club has staged the Pre-qualifying for several years but never the final qualifying and has attracted a top class field seeking to qualify for the Championship which will be held at Sunningdale from July 31st - August 3rd.

The Final Qualifying round will decide the final 19 available spots as well as 4 alternate places for this years Championship and promises to provide spectators with some excellent golf. Those who qualify from FQ will join the 125 already exempt players at this year's Championship.

Spectators are welcome and admission is free of charge.
